Blogger Review: Erica Dermer Gluten Free Blogger www.celiacandthebeast.com

 EricaDermer

I guess our motto is “gluten free for life” – because that’s how our condition is – for life! You can’t outgrow celiac and you can’t cure it with a medication (yet). That’s why we have that on our hoodies, so we remember that we can never cheat, and we must embrace celiac disease and being gluten-free all of our lives!

Erica Dermer with Celiac and the Beast

For you food bloggers out there, this unforgettable Gluten Free Food Blogger was the first gluten free “celebrity” to  acklowledge my social media presence.  “She actually responded!” I shouted as my kids looked at me as if I lost it. She is everything she portrays herself to be in person as on media. She is hilarious, sensitive, smart, witty, and most of all, passionate about her gluten free lifestyle. I love to visit her site and learn about the latest gluten free products, conventions, and let’s not forget the hottest gluten free apparel out there!  This chic has is all and a bag of chips (gluten free of course).

Are you personally gluten free? Celiac? Any other Allergies?
Diagnosed celiac 5 years ago (ish)

What drew you to the internet and inspired you to blogging world?
I came out of the womb a writer! I was blogging for another community before I turned gluten-free. When I finally got over being sad about never having pink-frosted donuts again – I wanted to do something positive with my background in writing and marketing and recent diagnosis. I wanted to spread advocacy for our condition in the community and needed a platform to do that!

What is your favorite thing to blog about?
I love everything – being an advocate, going to gluten-free expos, the newest GF products, dining out, etc. Just living life GF!

What is your “message”?
I guess our motto is “gluten free for life” – because that’s how our condition is – for life! You can’t outgrow celiac and you can’t cure it with a medication (yet). That’s why we have that on our hoodies, so we remember that we can never cheat, and we must embrace celiac disease and being gluten-free all of our lives!

What is your favorite gluten free indulgence? (Greenbean wanted to know)
COOKIES! (said in Cookie Monster voice)

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I’d love to write a book about being gluten-free and the struggles we face (dating, dining out, family drama, friends, etc.). I’d also like to become a speaker at expos and meet all of my readers on a US tour! I mean, here’s hoping. I really just want to be healthy and happy. (I believe this will happen for you Erica!)

What is something interesting about you that may or may not be related to blogging?
I love vintage and have a collection of vintage wheat jewelry and housewares. I adore it! I often feel like I was born in the wrong decade – but this decade has so much gluten-free safe food available!

Erica, you are still my First and only Gluten Free Foodie Crush! Thank you for contributing to our GF Blogger Campaign! Be sure to check out her online store and order your favorite GF shirt! We did and we love them!
