GFGB Travel: Gluten Free Allergy Free Expo Chicago, IL

swag2

I had the complete honor to be a part of the Glutenfree Allergy Free Expo Media Team in Chicago this year. To say the least, I am feeling very swagalicious. I am looking forward to reviewing some of these new gluten free and allergy free products and can’t wait to share them with you. Make sure you keep an eye out for my reviews here.

Although I have attended a few gluten free expos, this was my first to be invited to attend. I had the opportunity to meet face to face and chat with some of my favorite products lines as well as meet new ones.  I have a new pizza crush with Smart Flour Foods. And Schar Vanilla Sandwhich creams and I have a secret love affair going on. My pantry standards (Udi’s, Pamela’s, Glutino, Rudis, Enjoy Life, Ian’s, and Kinnikkinnick) were there and I was tickled to talk with the cool people of these companies and get the 411 on some of the new products that they will be introducing soon to the market. I will be sure to let you guys in on these new products very soon!

The Expo was laid out very user friendly. Although all the foods were gluten free, they were not all allergen free. Upon the newly diagnosed egg and dairy allergy for both Greenbean and I, I was relieved to see that each vendor had a “info tent” on their tables that indicating what allergen foods were in each product served. Yay, no tummy aches!

Not only did I walk away with swag, new vendor contacts, and new products to review, I picked up a new term or “hashtag” that will most likely pop up now and again on my tweets and instagram feeds: #gfbff, or, glutenfreebestfriendforever. Please forgive the highschool mentality, but seriously, when you are around bloggers that write about what you blog and live what you live, you are insta bff’s in my book. To not have to endure rolling of the eyes when you mention just one more food allergy that has come up for your child or yourself, or to not have to explain that gluten is found in more places than wheat, and just talk shop, it is such a welcome breath of fresh air!

Aren’t they a beautiful bunch? I seriously had a great time hanging with these ladies! Next month, for Celiac Awareness Month, I will be featuring my favorite Gluten Free Allergy Free Bloggers in my first Blogger Campaign! You will learn more about who these women are, what drives them to blog, and what they have to offer to you, our community! Stay tuned!

This next month will be packed not only with my favorite bloggers, but with product review and new gluten free allergy free news! Thank you GFAF Expo for such a treasure of a time, until next year!

Don’t fret if you missed Chicago’s Expo, there are more to come:

And for all you Gluten Free Allergy Free Food Bloggers out there…There is a Food Allergy Bloggers Conference in November in Vegas! Jenny Sprague of Multiple Food Allergy Help is the brainchild behind this Conference. Her site helps families manage multiple food allergies. And as we know, most Celiacs and Gluten Intolerant people deal with more that just being gluten free.  Save the date and I just might see you there!
